Thirty Days of Thanksgiving: Day 5 - Heirs

"so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs
according to the hope of eternal life."
               Titus 3:7

Today I want to give thanks that as believers in Christ, having been justified by His grace we are heirs according to the hope of eternal life!

What is an heir? I know that you already know the answer: one who inherits something, and that person becomes the new rightful owner. We inherit many things from our parents due to DNA: our looks, personality etc. These things are not given by choice, they just happen. At the end of a person's life however, people leave to their children, or other close relatives, their estate which could involve money and/or property. The heir is chosen because of the family connection or because they are considered a valuable friend or family member.

We have been chosen as heirs by God because we have been justified by Christ, and are considered children of God. Our inheritance in Christ is so much greater and more valuable than any amount of money or property. God has promised us eternity with Him! He will welcome us into His presence as His beloved children that we might experience the fullness of His love for us, and forever know His comfort and peace.

What a reason to give thanks!!!

Linda
