Thirty Days of Thanksgiving: Day 13 - Work in Progress

"For I am confident of this very thing,
that He who began a good work in you
will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus."
                 Philippians 1:6

How awesome that we can come to Christ just as we are! We do not have to correct all of our flaws and fix our mistakes to receive His forgiveness and be welcomed into His family. God accepts us just as we are, yet He does not leave us that way.

There is no salvation in good works or righteous behavior, but good works and righteous living are the fruits of a life surrendered to Christ. Those who belong to Christ Jesus and seek to live and walk by the Spirit will bear fruit (Galatians 5:22-26). Thankfully God's work in our lives does not stop at salvation; He has promised to continue to work in us, perfecting us until the day of Christ Jesus!

People often place higher expectations and standards upon Christians which is sometimes frustrating because we know that we struggle with sin and temptation just like everyone else. Yet it is also good because it keeps us accountable to practice what we preach! God does not expect us to become Christlike by our own strength. He will accomplish that work in our hearts if we allow Him to. We are indeed, a work in progress.

Today, give thanks that God has not left you alone, that He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it!

Linda
