Remembering To Be Thankful

Last year during the month of November I wrote a series of blog entries called "Thirty Days of Thanksgiving", I won't be doing those this year but thought I'd just mention it in case you wanted to read any of those entries this year. You can look in my archive section for November 2009 and you'll see an entry for each day of the month.

I hope you are considering the blessings in your life and looking for things for which to be thankful. Try to express your gratitude today whenever the opportunity arises, I think it will be a blessing to you and to those around you.
Feel free to post a comment at any time to let me know what you are thankful for. I am thankful for you, that you have visited my blog!
I pray that you experience God's blessings today.

"Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God."

Thirty Days of Thanksgiving: Day 1 - Bountiful Blessings

"But I have trusted in Your lovingkindness;
My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.
I will sing to the LORD,
Because He has dealt bountifully with me."
                          Psalm 13:5-6

As we embark on our Thirty Days of Thanksgiving together, it is my prayer that we will draw closer to God as we identify reasons to be thankful.

There are many Psalms of praise and thanksgiving as well as cries for help in times of distress. In Psalm 13, David is seeking the Lord's help in times of trouble, yet he finds reasons to rejoice and praise God. Likewise, we ought to look for opportunities to give thanks and rejoice even when we are faced with trials.

At this harvest time of year the word "bountifully" brings to mind the abundance of good foods that surround us, yet God gives so much more to us than food, and He gives more generously than we can measure, so let us remember to give thanks!

Here are some reasons to be thankful today:
  • God is loving and kind; we can trust in God's lovingkindness!
  • God has given us salvation; our hearts can rejoice in this!
  • God blesses us abundantly; sing to the Lord because He has dealt bountifully with us!
Have a blessed day!

Coming soon.. Thirty Days of Thanksgiving

Just a little heads-up about my upcoming blog series for November. I am anxious for October to be over as we don't celebrate Halloween and I'm getting kind of tired of all the ghost, witch, spooky, dead-things themes everywhere. So I decided to turn my attention to November and that always brings Thanksgiving to mind for me, therefore what could be better than finding GOOD things to be thankful for. Of course, when I say 'good' that implies to me the things of God.

I started working on my list of thirty reasons to be thankful, along with relevant scriptures, and I was completely amazed at the abundance of reasons I have to be thankful. I feel like I could go on for much longer than thirty days, which I guess is a good thing, because I do want to increase my thankfulness!

So I am excited to share my thoughts of thanksgiving with you during November, I hope you will join me each day and also share things you are thankful for!
